Do you actually need the dMAT?
The dMAT only applies to a specific slice of applicants. Run through the four checks below — if all four describe you, you most likely need to sit it.
The four-point check
- 1You're applying for a Master's
The requirement is for Master's applicants. Bachelor's, PhD and exchange/partnership applicants are outside its scope.
- 2Your intake is Summer 2027 or later
Earlier intakes (Winter 2026/27 and before) predate the requirement.
- 3Your APS falls under the new process
If you already hold an APS certificate, or registered/shipped documents before the transitional cut-off (around 29 June 2026), you're generally exempt. Applications from that date onward fall under the new process.
- 4Your Bachelor's is in an affected field
Engineering, Commerce/Finance/Economics and Business/Management are the affected fields. Other fields are generally not required; interdisciplinary degrees should check the official affected-fields list.
