The first dMAT test cycle for the APS India process has a tight sequence of registration, preparation, document verification and certificate submission. Missing one step can delay the entire Master's application plan.
This guide turns the official dates into a practical workflow.

Official dates for the first India test cycle
The official dMAT information currently lists:
| Milestone | Date |
|---|---|
| Registration opened | 29 June 2026 |
| Registration deadline | 15 September 2026 |
| Test date | 26 September 2026 |
| Results and certificate | 12 October 2026 |
The final test-centre availability is shown during registration. Locations currently planned include major centres such as Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Bhopal, Chandigarh, Chennai, Kolkata, Mumbai, New Delhi and Pune, with additional listed locations subject to the official booking process.
Treat the participant portal as the final source for your personal booking.
Why you should not wait until September
A registration deadline is not the same as a recommended registration date.
Test-centre capacity may be limited, travel arrangements can take time and technical or payment problems are easier to resolve when you are not close to the deadline.
Register early enough to:
- select a convenient centre;
- make sure your personal details match your passport;
- resolve payment or portal issues;
- plan travel and accommodation if necessary; and
- create a realistic preparation schedule.
Step 1: Confirm that the requirement applies
Before paying for the test, confirm:
- you are applying for a Master's programme;
- your previous degree is in an affected field;
- your intended intake is Summer Semester 2027 or later; and
- you do not fall under a transitional exemption.
APS India publishes the official affected-fields list and exemption rules. Do not rely only on advice from social media groups.
Step 2: Check your passport details
The official terms require the name used in registration to match the spelling in your passport or identity document.
This is especially important when names can be written in several ways, when initials are used in academic records or when a passport contains a different order of names.
Resolve major inconsistencies before the registration deadline. Changes to personal details may become restricted after registration closes.
Step 3: Register and select a test centre
Complete registration through the official dMAT route managed by g.a.s.t.
Save:
- the registration confirmation;
- payment confirmation;
- participant-portal login details;
- the selected test centre; and
- any booking reference.
Do not share portal credentials with consultants or other students.
Step 4: Submit the APS document package in parallel
Affected applicants do not have to wait for the dMAT result before sending the other APS documents.
Use the current APS checklist for graduates/postgraduates and make sure the initial submission contains all other required documents. APS can begin the verification process, but it can issue the final APS certificate only after the required dMAT result has been submitted and checked.
This parallel approach is usually safer than completing the test first and starting APS paperwork afterwards.
Step 5: Build your preparation backwards from 26 September
Divide the remaining time into three phases.
Foundation phase
Learn the task interfaces and solve untimed examples. Focus on accuracy and understanding.
Timed-practice phase
Work in short timed sets. Track which errors come from misunderstanding, calculation, visual scanning or poor pacing.
Simulation phase
Complete full or section-level mock tests under realistic conditions. Review each attempt before taking another mock.
Do not spend the final week learning everything from scratch. Use it to stabilise routines and remove repeated errors.
Step 6: Check the participant portal before test day
The official terms say that relevant exam-day information is normally provided in the participant portal around five days before the test.
Check for:
- reporting time;
- test-centre address;
- meeting point;
- required registration documents;
- technical introduction material; and
- instructions specific to the centre.
Do not rely on an old screenshot or a message forwarded by another candidate.
Step 7: Take the test and protect your APS timeline
After the test, results are accessed through the participant portal. For the first scheduled India cycle, the published result date is 12 October 2026.
Once available:
- Download the certificate.
- Save the original PDF securely.
- Follow the APS submission instructions.
- Keep proof that the certificate was submitted.
- Check your APS account and email for follow-up requests.

The main planning principle
Treat dMAT preparation and APS verification as parallel workstreams.
Waiting for one to finish before starting the other can create unnecessary delays. Build one calendar containing registration, preparation, APS documents, university deadlines and visa planning.
